If being forced to team up with reality TV’s favorite bad girl wasn’t enough, falling for her brother might just make this reality show a real nightmare.

Paige Anderson agrees to be on a new reality show called Treasure Trekkers, a show where contestants use handheld GPS units to find hidden caches filled with prizes, with her good friend Cassidy. But when Cassidy is unable to compete, Chip Cormack, the show’s producer, steps in with a last-minute replacement to be Paige’s partner – Zoe Oliver, reality TV’s favorite bad girl.

Jack Miles (aka Miles) is a mountain climber with the body to prove it. Miles convinced his climbing partner Ben to come on the show with him for one reason – to prove to Ben that they can still hike together, regardless of the fact that Ben lost his foot in a tragic accident. Miles isn’t about to let anything get in his way of winning – not even beautiful Paige.

But when Miles and Paige are thrown into an alliance with their teammates, working closely together leads to more than just good strategy. Can Paige steal Miles’ heart while surviving Zoe long enough to win the game?

Intrigued?? You can PRE-ORDER your copy of Stuck on You from Amazon today and it will be automatically delivered to your kindle when it release on Feb 11th!! How awesome is that?! You can check it out by clicking on the link below!

News and Coming Soon!

CRsoon

It’s been busy around my office these last couple of weeks. And by office, I mean my couch since that is where I do most of my writing. 🙂

First, I got back edits on STUCK ON YOU book 2 of my reality TV trilogy. It’s been a while since I read the story and it’s been so fun getting back into the swing of things with Paige and Miles. The chemistry between these two is gets pretty hot. There’s a couple of scenes that made me blush, and they weren’t even… ahem… you know. Whew! Let’s just say there’s a canoeing scene that may just be the hottest canoe ride you ever take. STUCK ON YOU is gearing up to release Feb 11th!!

Second, my editor at Crimson Romance just accepted my third book in the trilogy titled LOST WITHOUT YOU. It’s scheduled to release July 1st!! I can’t wait for you to read Zoe’s story. She isn’t who you think she is…

Have you the 1st in the series yet? FALLING FOR YOU is available everywhere right now and it’s getting some great reviews. I hope you’ll check it out before the next books in the series release!!

FallingForYou-HighResNewly single Cassidy Quinn is thrilled to be a contestant on the new reality dating show The One. But her excitement turns to horror when the gorgeous bachelor turns out to be her ex-boyfriend. Seeing Brad again makes Cassidy realize she might not be as “over him” as she thought—and then she meets hunky cameraman Evan Burke.

After watching his brother lose his wife in a tragic accident, Evan vows never to fall in love. But following Cassidy around as her personal cameraman makes him question his decision, and resisting her gets harder with every sunbathing, bikini-wearing day.

Cassidy and Evan begin a forbidden affair while her ex-boyfriend tries to win her heart back one groping, awkward moment at a time. If Cassidy can manage to stop falling off horses (literally), stop falling onto her ex-boyfriend, the bachelor (yes, literally), and stop falling in love with backstage playboy Evan, she might still make it through the show without becoming a tabloid sensation.

But soon Cassidy must choose between the ex who broke her heart and the cameraman who might never love her back. For Cassidy, this reality show just got real.

Sneak Peek at Stuck on You… Sort of.

The second book in my reality TV romance series—STUCK ON YOU—is coming soon! And by soon, I mean next Feb. 11th, 2013! 🙂 So it’s not actually soon, soon, but more like sooner rather than later at least! I thought it might be fun to give you a sneak peek at the heroine of the book, Paige. Paige and Cassidy quickly become fast friends in Falling for You and provide a source of comfort for each other during the show. We don’t really get to learn a lot about Paige. We learn she’s shy and unconfident and we know she’s one of the girls who actually went on the dating show with the hope of finding true love. Here’s an excerpt between Cassidy and Paige as a little sneak peak into who our heroine is for Stuck on You:

***

Paige stood beside Spencer in the bottom three again, already looking crushed. Cassidy knew all the girls had their own reasons for being here and that everyone deserved to stay, but she couldn’t help wishing that this time it would be Holly and Lauren who went home instead of Paige.

“I’m sorry, Paige.”

“Thanks,” Paige said, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. “I hope they send me home this time and put me out of my misery. I can’t take hanging out for another week just to be in the bottom three again. I mean, it’s obvious he doesn’t like me.”

“I don’t know what he’s thinking.” Cassidy wrapped her arm around Paige. “Let’s get you a drink and we’ll drown your ‘bottom three’ sorrows until you’ve forgotten them.”

“Sounds good. Anything to dull the humiliation of being in the bottom three—again.”

Cassidy and Paige walked into the kitchen. As Paige got comfortable on the stools beside the kitchen island, Cassidy found a bottle of champagne in the fridge and a couple of glasses. She filled them and handed one to Paige.

“Champagne? Does my humiliation make you feel like celebrating?”

“Don’t be silly, Paige. We’re going to celebrate this experience and our friendship, which we wouldn’t have had without coming here and sacrificing our dignity for the betterment of American television.”

Cassidy and Paige clinked their glasses and polished off the champagne in one shot. “How ’bout another?”

“You certainly know how to put a positive spin on things.”

“I know this is hard, Paige, but coming here was about more than just meeting Brad, right? It’s about the experience, too. Just because Brad is too stupid to see what an awesome girl you are, doesn’t mean the whole thing was a waste.”

“I guess you’re right. I just really wanted to fall in love, ya know?”

“I know. But you can’t fall in love unless it’s the right guy, and maybe Brad isn’t him. I bet Mr. Right is out there now, shaking his head at the TV, wondering how Brad could be so stupid to let you go and thanking his lucky stars he’ll get a chance with you.”

“I hope you’re right,” Paige said, emptying her second glass in one last gulp of champagne. “Maybe I’ll take a refill up to my room to help me pack.”

“Who said anything about packing? You don’t know you’re going home.”

“Call it a hunch or intuition or whatever. But I feel like I’m definitely going home.” Paige sighed and put her head in her hands. “Honestly, I’m ready to go home. I don’t think my ego can stand another round in the bottom three.”

“You want help packing?”

“Sure, if you don’t have anything better to do.”  Spending quality time kissing Evan was out of the question since he was still acting pissy toward her. Hanging out with Paige sounded exactly like what she needed right now. Cassidy grabbed the bottle of champagne. “It could be a long night of packing. We might need refreshments.”

“Good thinking.” Paige grabbed it from her hand and took a drink right from the bottle before leaving the kitchen and heading up to her room.

Falling for You — An Exclusive Excerpt!

For Cassidy, this reality show just got real.

When I was thinking of what to write about today, I realized that I’ve never shared an excerpt with you from Falling for You! How has this happened??  How will you even know if you connect to the story if I don’t share a little of it with you? So here it is an exclusive excerpt just for my Ladies in Red readers!

This is a little scene from the first few chapters of the book. At this point, Cassidy has just finished filming her first private interview with Evan as her cameraman and interviewer. The sparks have already started to fly! Enjoy!

* * *

She walked to the edge of a grassy area near the pond. Ducks squawked to each other as they nibbled the grass. “I can’t believe I said my legs are my best physical feature. Seriously? Legs? I couldn’t have said my eyes, or my lips, or even my hair?”

Her legs weren’t even long. She considered herself far from being tall at only five and a half feet. Her legs were only good for getting her from point A to point B.

Cassidy startled at the sound of a loud snap behind her. She cried out in surprise and lost her balance. Her left ankle rolled to the side and a sharp pain shot up her calf. Before she could catch herself, she was on the ground, her leg bent under her with pain raging inside her ankle.

“Ouch! Crap.” Cassidy grabbed her ankle. “Stupid, impractical heels.” Tears filled her eyes as she rubbed her ankle. It was already starting to swell. She needed to get back to the house and see the production medic.

“Are you okay?” Evan appeared in front of her like her personal superhero—just missing the tights. And thank goodness for small miracles. Tights aren’t sexy on guys. Any guys. Ever.

She eyed Evan, confused. “Where did you come from? I thought you were still in the interview room.”

“I finished up with the interview stuff, but then I couldn’t find you. I poked my head out the backdoor and saw you out here.”

“Oh good, you have that on film.” Cassidy’s cheeks burned. “That’s great. Peachy. Now all of America gets to see firsthand what a total klutz I am.”

“Not a klutz so much as easily startled. Besides, you don’t know what they’ll decide to use and what they won’t, so don’t worry about it.”

Evan gave Cassidy a little wink, set down his camera, and scooped her into his arms before she could protest. She hesitated before slipping her arms around his neck. The desire to protest disappeared instantly.

I could get used to this.

“Let’s get you up to your room and I’ll find some ice for your ankle.” Evan readjusted her in his arms.

Oh crap. I weigh a ton. “I’m too heavy for you. Put me down.” She wiggled to get out of his arms before they gave out and she dropped to the ground.

“You’re not.” He adjusted her again. “Stop wiggling.”

“Look, your muscles are straining. I’m too heavy. It’s okay. I know I’m not like some of the other waifs here. I’ll walk.”

“You’re not heavy. My muscles are not straining, but thank you very much for that vote of confidence.”

“That’s not what I meant. Your muscles are obviously strong—I, oh brother, never mind. Just put me down so I can walk with dignity.” She pressed her hand to Evan’s chest, trying to free herself from his grip, but it was no use. His hold on her was strong and solid—oh boy, was it solid. There was no way those pectorals would let her fall.

Under her palm, Cassidy felt the contours of Evan’s muscles and his steady heartbeat beneath them. Her hand lingered a moment longer than needed, but she couldn’t force herself to move it. If anything, she wanted to trace the lines to see where they led.

“You’re not walking. You don’t want to risk hurting it more, do you? So I’m going to carry you with my dignity… and my wee, weak muscles.” Evan smirked, his eyes getting a new twinkle in them.

“Oh, shut it. That’s not what I meant and you know it.”

“That was a pretty good fall you took.” Evan’s smile widened.

“Do not laugh at me.” Cassidy wiggled her finger at Evan’s face. “I wouldn’t have fallen in the first place if someone had been a little quieter while they snuck around following me.”

“I wasn’t sneaking around. You make it sound like I’m some pervert. I followed you because it’s my job. It would’ve been easier to do that job if you’d waited for me in the great room like you were supposed to. Instead, you decided to wander around alone in the backyard.”

“It’s not like I went into the jungle on my own—it’s a backyard.” Cassidy shook her head. “And for the record, I did wait for you. You just took your sweet-assed time getting your camera and finding me. It’s not my fault you took so long.”

Cassidy stuck out her chin, determined to be right. “Maybe next time you’ll hurry up and stay a little closer to the person you’re supposed to be working with instead of screwing around in the interview room doing God knows what wasting time.”

Cassidy watched as the corner of Evan’s lips pulled up into a smile. His eyes sparked. “Sweet ass, huh?” He cocked one eyebrow at her.

“It’s a figure of speech not to be taken literally, of course,” she said, copying his very words from earlier.

Evan started walking toward the house. “Let me and my sweet ass get you back to your room. I don’t want that ankle to swell up more before it gets some ice.”

Cassidy cheeks flushed again for about the fourth time since meeting Evan.

Roses and Thorns

I need to write this blog post and I can’t. I just sit here staring at my computer screen trying desperately to think of something to write. It’s not because I don’t have anything to say or because I’m not thrilled to be here. I am. And I’ve got plenty to say. I just can’t think of anything worthwhile at this particular moment.

I think it’s because I’m borderline exhausted. And my mind is being pulled in a million directions at once. It’s starting to feel a little mushy up there, like my brain is melting from overuse.

That can’t be good, can it?

It seems like for the last few weeks I’ve done nothing but run around with my kids, take care of my house, write a new book, and promote the two books I just had released. Yes, two. Two times the blogs, two times the promo, two times the amount of stress in wondering whether or not anyone is actually going to buy my book, and if they do buy it, will they like it.

So I came to the Ladies in Red blog to see what other people had been chatting about lately. I wouldn’t want to bore you by blabbing about the same old thing. And for many writers, we all face the same struggles so the same topics often come to mind. Names, characters, plot, writing style, voice, POV etc. It’s all been said and done.

So I am still staring at my computer screen.

I turn to watch my little one’s DS screen while she plays a game beside me, her little body snuggled up close and radiating the kind of warmth that only a little person can. My dog is on the other side of her, snuggled up to her hip, snoring in only the way he can. And my other daughter is sitting on the opposite couch, also playing her DS, her yellow painted toenails (yes, yellow. Ick.) wiggling as she reacts involuntarily to her game.

My little one stopping to smell the flowers along our travels.

I turn back to my computer screen feeling slightly more content though not entirely inspired yet and notice the roses filling the screen, the beautiful background of our site. All of the times my little one has made us stop on our daily dog walk so she can smell a rose growing in the neighbor’s garden, or to watch a caterpillar as it makes its way across the street instantly rush to my mind.

Maybe I haven’t taken enough time to smell the roses lately.

Instead I’ve been focused on all the tiny thorns in my daily life that keep poking me. Little thorns are seriously hard to ignore sometimes! Seems I may have missed the roses through the sea of thorns.

I’ve been so busy writing a new book and promoting two others that I think I may have lost a sight of the things that are really important in my life. Like the two little roses sitting on my couch.

It’s not book sales that matter or blog posts getting written or new pages added to my work-in-progress. It’s health, happiness, family, and friends that matter the most. My roses.

Well, and sleep.

And coffee.

Those things are important too.

So for now, I’m going to sign off and go tend to my roses for a while. I’m not going to focus on my thorns. I’m not going to stress about whether or not this blog post is good enough or if people will like it. I’m not going to count the number of other blog posts and interviews I still have yet to write. (15. I couldn’t stop myself from looking.) I’m not going to focus on the fact that I didn’t get as many new pages written today as I hoped I would. Thorns, thorns, thorns. Poke, poke, poke.

Instead, I’m just going to be happy that I had something heartfelt to write about today.

Then I’m going to make dinner for my kids, eat, snuggle and read some stories with them before it’s bedtime. I’m going to kiss my hubs when he gets home and be thankful that I have such a wonderful man to share my life with. And I’m going to go to bed early. I’m going to read something just for fun and not because I’m editing it.

Soon enough a new day will start and I’ll be struggling with this balance of roses and thorns all over again.

But for right this second I’m just going to enjoy the roses.

Falling for You is Here!!

The day has finally come. FALLING FOR YOU, the 1st in my Reality TV Romance series of books with Crimson Romance, is here! I’m so excited.

To celebrate, I want to chat Reality TV with you!! What is your favorite Reality TV show? Are you a game show kind of viewer? Or maybe you’re a lover of cooking shows. What about all those crazy dating shows where people try to find love?

I’m a fan of dating, fashion, cooking, and adventure shows. My all time faves are The Amazing Race, Bachelor/Bachelorette, and Big Brother. And Top Chef. And… I could go on and on…

Okay, okay, I can’t leave you without at least the blurb for Falling for You! I *heart* this book since it encompasses two of my favorite things in life—romance and reality TV!!

Newly single Cassidy Quinn is thrilled to be a contestant on the new reality dating show The One. But her excitement turns to horror when the gorgeous bachelor turns out to be her ex-boyfriend. Seeing Brad again makes Cassidy realize she might not be as “over him” as she thought—and then she meets hunky cameraman Evan Burke.

Summer Heat!

Summer is officially upon us and I don’t know about you, but things are heating up around here. The mercury is rising and the humidity makes it feel like you’re sitting in warm soup when you’re outside… It’s fun!

To beat the heat, I love taking the kids to the community pool and cooling off in the water that is always as frigid as a tall glass of iced tea. Sometimes I prefer to crank the air conditioner and curl up on the couch in the dark basement with my family and watch a movie.

But I think my most favorite thing to do is sit on my back deck in the shade of the umbrella with my kindle fully charged—loaded with smokin’ hot romances, of course!—and a giant frozen strawberry lime margarita to sip on. I’ve already stocked my kindle for the summer with hot new Crimson Romances, an early review copy of my upcoming release Falling for You (releasing Aug 20th from Crimson Romance!) and a few of my favorite author’s new releases. I can hardly wait for the next hot, lazy summer day!

Does life get any better?

So tell me, what’s your favorite way to beat the heat this summer?

If you need me, I’ll be poolside with a hottie—I mean perfectly respectable hero—on my kindle, soaking up the rays…

Maybe it’s best not to need me for the summer… 😉

Falling for You, Stuck with You, Lost without You ~ Coming soon from Crimson Romance!

Heather Thurmeier was born and raised in the Canadian prairies, but now she lives in upstate New York with her own personal romance Hero (aka her husband) and their two little princesses. When she’s not busy taking care of the kids and an adventurous puppy named Indy, Heather’s hard at work on her next romance novel. She loves to hear from readers. Heart, humor, and a happily ever after.

Meet the Ladies in Red — Heather Thurmeier

Author Heather Thurmeier

Introduce yourself, please.

My name is Heather Thurmeier. I write contemporary romance. I was born and raised in the Canadian prairies but now I live in upstate New York with my own personal romance hero (aka my hubs), my kids and an adventurous King Charles Cavalier named Indiana Jones (Indy for short).

What’s your secret passion?

Besides writing, of course? Riding horses. If I could spend my free time (when I’m on mom’s time off and not writing!) I’d love to ride horses. For a brief time in high school, I took English riding lessons and even got to jump once. It was amazing. I hope to get back into riding again someday.

Tell us one thing about yourself you’d never change.

My sense of humor. It enters into so many aspects of my life and my writing.

If you didn’t live where you do, where would you live? Why?

I’d totally live in Maui. It’s where we went on our honeymoon and if we wouldn’t have missed our families so much, we would have stayed forever. The island life agreed with us. We loved being outside, exploring the island, sunsets over the water were nothing short of magical and the weather was perfect. My hair has never felt so soft and luxurious as it did while on the island!

Do you write about where you live or where you’d like to live?

Both. I often write about the New York area because I’m familiar with it. But sometimes my character just don’t want to tell their story from here. So in those times, I do a lot of research about the new place. I look up tourism information, businesses, and even real estate listing. I love the research!

What’s the first creative writing you remember doing outside a class?

I think I’ve always written poetry at home on my own time. Or at least I did when I was young. I can’t say as I’ve written any poetry in many years.

Why do you write romance novels?

Because I’m a sucker for a happy ending. There’s nothing that tweaks my heart strings more than seeing an old married couple holding hands or eating dinner together. There’s something so incredible about a love that can stand the test of time. I feel blessed everyday that fate stepped in and connected me to my husband. I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it weren’t for him. Writing romance allows me to give that to other people, even if it’s only characters in my books.

What else do you write?

Mostly I write contemporary romances, but I’ve also started a series of paranormal romances (not yet published).

What one thing from your book did you take from personal experience?

My book, Falling for You, coming from Crimson Romance in August, is about a girl who goes on a reality dating show. I’ve never been on a reality show of any kind, but I am a huge fan. I’ve watched all kinds of different shows and I drew on that to tell this story. I always imagined what happened behind the scenes with my favorite reality show stars. Writing this book let me play out what I imagine it might be like.

Also, the horse back riding in the book is from my past experiences with horses. I love going for a trail rides.

What did you cut from your book that felt like severing a body part?

Nothing. Honestly, every cut made my book stronger, better, and more enjoyable and that’s what I want to give my readers. Every word I cut I still have on my computer in an original version, so it’s not like I had to part with the words forever. And really, they’re just words. In the end, I’m thrilled with the way Falling for You turned out and I’m so excited for people to get a chance to read it!

Do you identify closely with one particular character? How?

I identify a lot with the main character Cassidy. She really puts herself in a position where she’s not comfortable and because of that, she falls in love and finds her happily ever after. Moving to the States with my boyfriend (now husband) was terrifying and totally out of my comfort zone. But I’m glad I took the chance to do it. If I’d been too afraid to move with him, I would have missed out on this life I have now.

The best part about my writing life is:

Getting to tell the stories I want to tell how I want to tell them. It’s just me, my imagination and my computer.

The worst part about my writing life is:

Not having unlimited time each day to write as much as I want. I still have kids, a husband, a dog and a house to take of too. Sometimes it can be tricky to balance it all.

Give us a hint about what the next book’s like.

In Stuck with You, we get to follow Paige as she goes on another reality show where she has to work with her team mate to find geocaches to win the grand prize—but she didn’t expect to find love on the show too.
